Women's Health is not so niche anymore

A survey from HRC Fertility was recently referenced in an article written by Michelle Wang for Medium titled “Women’s Health: Not So Niche Anymore.”

Since the term “Femtech” was coined in 2016, there has been a rise in companies tackling women’s health and wellness. These topics have historically been left behind because they have been stigmatized and viewed as niche, despite women representing half of the U.S. population. If we look at more established players leading the way, many are fertility and menstrual related while some holistic care clinics have also done incredibly well. This is opening the door for more traction in menopause, pelvic care, mental health, devices, and diagnostics as the full spectrum of women’s health comes into focus.

With this momentum, the women’s health market presents an attractive set of opportunities, regardless of your own gender. For example, a recent survey from HRC Fertility showed that 3 in 5 Gen Z are concerned about their future fertility, a great leading indicator that awareness is on the rise. Not only are they concerned, they’re actually ready to do something about it, with nearly 2/3rds of respondents indicating that fertility and pregnancy benefits play a critical role in selecting a new job.
