HRC Fertility Encino is proud to welcome Roy Handelsman, MD to our group of award-winning physicians.

Dr. Roy Handelsman, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist (OB/GYN) and fellowship-trained Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) specialist who combines technical expertise with a deeply human approach to patient care. Known for his clear communication, attentiveness, and empathy, Dr. Handelsman is committed to helping each patient feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their fertility journey. He understands how overwhelming fertility treatment can feel and is passionate about making the process feel more affirming and approachable for every individual and couple.

Dr. Handelsman earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering with honors from UC Santa Barbara and received his medical degree from the University of Miami, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his OB/GYN residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he received multiple awards recognizing academic excellence, surgical skill, and compassionate care. He went on to complete his REI fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Magee-Womens Hospital, a nationally recognized leader in clinical care and the largest research institute in the U.S. devoted to women’s health and reproductive medicine.

Dr. Handelsman has contributed to a growing body of research in reproductive medicine, with a particular focus on uncovering the genetic causes of recurrent pregnancy loss. His work also spans areas such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), preimplantation genetic testing, and fertility preservation. His background in engineering informs a methodical and analytical approach to complex fertility challenges. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI). He provides respectful, inclusive, and highly individualized care to patients of all backgrounds and family structures.

Whether navigating complex diagnoses or routine fertility care, Dr. Handelsman is known for his calm demeanor, problem-solving mindset, and deep respect for each patient’s experience. He is honored to support you throughout your family-building journey, offering clarity, compassion, and clinical excellence at every stage, from early evaluation to advanced treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
