Dr. Botros Rizk, MD, FACOG of HRC Fertility Pasadena.HRC Fertility Pasadena is proud to welcome Dr. Botros Rizk, MD, FACOG to our group of award winning physicians.

Dr Botros Rizk is a world renowned Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist practicing at our Pasadena office. He is a pioneer in the field of reproductive medicine and infertility. He is also professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the chief of the REI division at the USC Keck School of Medicine. Dr Rizk started his medical career at Cairo University School of Medicine where he graduated and then he went to complete his prestigious fellowship at The Bourn Hall Clinic in London and Cambridge, UK and joined the University of Cambridge as Clinical lecturer and Senior Registrar. Dr Rizk has an international following of patients from Dubai, Qatar, Egypt and Saudi seeking guidance and precision.

Mentored by Nobel Laureate Professor Robert Edwards, recipient of the Nobel prize in Medicine for achieving the first successful in vitro fertilization in the world, Dr. Rizk started his career in reproductive medicine in London and Cambridge in the era where most of the current scientific developments and medical protocols were invented. Dr Rizk is also one of the early members of European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and a founding member and former president of Middle East Fertility Society (MEFS). Dr Rizk worked daily with the legendary trio professors Stuart Campbell, Howard Jacobs and Robert Edwards. Dr Rizk was Chair of the ASRM international membership committee linking ASRM, ESHRE, and MEFS for seven years. He was also the secretary and representative of the Royal College in London (RCOG) to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) for six years.

Dr. Rizk is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in England, and the American Board of Bioanalysts in Embryology and Andrology. He has edited and authored twenty eight medical textbooks and more than four hundred manuscripts embracing different aspects of infertility and assisted reproduction as well as ultrasonography and robotic surgery. Dr Rizk reported the world’s first 1,000 IVF babies from Bourn Hall Clinic in a landmark publication that settled early concerns about IVF babies.

Dr. Rizk’s clinical and research interests have focused on ovarian stimulation including the development of the long agonist protocol which became the standard for two decades of IVF. He is internationally considered a leading authority on ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and made original contributions to the pathophysiology and prevention of the syndrome. Dr. Rizk authored a book dedicated to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome that is considered the standard reference for OHSS. He is also the principal investigator for tens of clinical trials for the FDA over the last three decades for infertility, osteoporosis, menopause, and decreased libido while he was a tenured professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of S Alabama and medical director of Elite IVF in Houston.

When he is not practicing medicine, Dr Rizk enjoys traveling with his family. He has traveled to 70 countries all over the world. He also enjoys playing piano, tennis and swimming as well as spending time listening to Oriental music and visiting the beach.
