What is Anovulation with Dr. Katherine McDaniel.

Dr. Katherine McDaniel was recently featured in an insightful WebMD article written by Alyson Powell titled “What is Anovulation?”

According to the article, anovulation is a common but treatable cause of infertility that occurs when something interrupts the ovulation process. For example, anovulation or anovulatory cycle occurs when an egg does not release from one’s ovary. About 30% of fertility issues in women can be attributed to anovulation and it can happen to anyone of childbearing age with ovaries, usually between the age ranges of 12 to 51.

Reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist at HRC Fertility in Pasadena, California, Katherine E. McDaniel, MD, FACOG states, “Most women typically have menstrual cycles around every 28 days. And a woman with a 28-day menstrual cycle will typically release an egg around cycle day 14. So, anovulation is when our ovaries aren’t doing this.”

The article goes on to discuss the causes and symptoms of anovulation, as well as different treatment options including lifestyle changes and medicines. To learn more about anovulation, read the full article here.
