I am a 30-year-old female born with a large septum in the uterus. Last July, I underwent a procedure to correct that problem. But I bled for 2 months post op, and now I'm taking birth control to make sure I heal well. I went to start seeing a doctor concerning IVF beginning 2016. My Husband has low sperm count, so we were told IVF was our best option. Do I have to be off contraceptives for a certain amount of time before seeing a doctor regarding IVF?

If you are needing to know or track your ovulatory status, it is best to be off the pill for 3 months to evaluate if you are having regular menstrual cycles. I also suggest you have your uterus evaluated again prior to any IVF treatment to ensure the cavity healed well.

Best of luck,
