What procedure of sperm extraction does your clinics offer. My husband and I were told we need to do IVF because my husband had a vasectomy. Do all the clinics offer the sperm extraction? Which one is recommended? MESA? TESA? PESE? If my husband has this extraction done, does it have to be the same day as my egg retrieval? We will also be doing ICSI and PGD. How long will he be laid up? Or can his procedure be done prior to my egg retrieval? What would be the best option, the sperm extracted the same day or days before my egg retrieval?

In my lab, we can aspirate sperm with an outpatient procedure PESA, days or weeks prior to the egg retrieval. The sperm can be frozen and used when the egg is harvested at a later date, allowing more flexibility in the timing of both procedures. I would be happy to speak with you more if you need more details regarding the procedures. Usually a vasectomy gives high yields of sperm for many IVF cycles.

Sincerely,
