I don't really see a lot of information on here about couples seeking gender selection for reasons other than genetic disadvantages and family balancing. For instance, are families eligible for PGD if they have a girl, and want another girl? Or, is this considered "wrong"?

Thank you in advance for the information!

You bring up an interesting point. Interest in choosing the sex of a child has a long history dating to ancient cultures. Methods have varied from special modes and timing of coitus to the practice of infanticide. Only recently have medical technologies made it possible to attempt sex selection of children before their conception or birth. Of these technologies, PGD is by far the most reliable.

Wishing to have a second girl is your right. I would love to help you and your partner achieve your goal of having another baby girl and at your first visit we can speak about some of the details (procedural and ethical) related to this. I am seeing patients in both Pasadena and in our new Inland Empire office.

Hope this helps and thanks for bringing up this topic!
