After a few years of trying to conceive, I finally had an HSG done this month and no blocked tubes. However, while I didn't have any cramping immediately following the procedure, I did start to have period-like cramps starting the same day I had a positive OPK result. The cramps lasted steadily for 4 days with lower back pain here and there. Around the 5th day my breasts started to become tender and heavy with very mild cramping and lower back aches that come and go. It has been 7 days since my first positive OPK and I have received positive OPK results every single day since then. I have no idea what is going on especially since I've never had any ovulation symptoms before. My period is expected 12 days from today (March 23). What could be causing the cramps, back aches, swollen breasts and 7 days worth of positive OPK results?

Based on the history above Athena, it sounds like the cramping started after the OPK turned positive and your symptoms are likely related to ovulation. However, it is always reasonable to call the physician that ordered the HSG to let them know how you are feeling. If they are concerned, they can always bring you in for an ultrasound to further evaluate you.
