Hello. I am 37 (almost 38). I had a missed miscarriage in August 2013. Since then, I have been charting and I realized that I have a long follicular phase. I ovulate on day 20, my luteal phase is 12 days. I have read that a long follicular phase can contribute to miscarriages, chromosomal abnormalities, and infertility. I think this may be why I had a miscarriage. Is there anything that I can do about this? Are there vitamins or medications that can help me?

I am trying not to panic but it's not easy.

Thank you,
Jennifer

Dear Long Follicular Phase:
There are many options to help you ovulate in the midcycle instead of day 20, which is too late for implantation.
At your initial consult, I would review your history, and do some simple blood tests to determine why you ovulate late. There are various treatment options to help you.
Warmly,
Dr Jane Frederick
