Do you treat those with immune issues (Hashimoto's) who are trying to get and stay pregnant- and if so, what do you use to treat them?

Dear Megzz,
We do treat those with immune problems/Hashimoto's. If the problem is repeat pregnancy loss, we initiate a workup. If the conclusion is that pregnancy losses are related to an autoimmune disorder (like antiphospholipid syndrome), the recommendation would be to consider anticoagulation. We would definitely make sure that the thyroid function is within the normal range, and evaluate for other endocrine problems, as appropriate. Many times the reason for miscarriages is obscure despite extensive work-up.
What I would suggest is that you set up a new patient consult, and we can discuss all the options that are available to you.
