Once you decide to move forward with IVF, exactly how long is the process?

There is no single answer to this question. It depends on what has been done prior to starting. If you need any screening tests, that usually takes a month to accomplish. After that, it depends on what protocol is used. The actual stimulation phase of the cycle is similar to a natural cycle: Rougly 2 weeks to get the eggs and embryo transfer is done 3 or 5 days after that.

For me (I have done this a couple of times), it has been about a 5-6 week process.

From your period, it will generally take 4-6 weeks until the embryos are placed.
