I would be an out of town patient to your office but after researching this topic online your site appeared to have the most research. I just had my first IVF procedure and the results were devastating. While I had 105 follicles the RE was not able to get one egg (even dead, immature, etc.). Obviously my husband and I were in shock after the procedure and didnt have a chance to discuss things with the doctor other than it is a very rare condition called Empty Follicle Syndrome. He said he did empty all 105. I have been reading about this and I cannot find an instance where a woman had as many follicles as I did and it resulted in no eggs. We are scheduled to see the doctor on Wednesday but are also contemplating getting a second opinion. As a brief background, I am a 31 woman with thin/lean PCOS. I have normal 3 day FSH and LH levels and an AMH of 22. I have irregular periods and have extremely polycystic ovaries, although, I do not have insulin resistance or any external side effects. My husband is 34 and is perfect (his semen too)! We have tried Clomid and have been able to grow a follicle but it did not result in a pregnancy. I was taken off the Clomid due to poor vision and other vision problems while on it. They tried Femara and Bravelle combo and i didnt respond. They suggested we proceed with IVF with ICSI. I was on stims for 15 days - bravelle (225 iu) and then addded ganirelix and menopur. Due to the high number of follicles they did a Lupron trigger. I am curious if your office has experience with this and would be willing to talk to me. I have many questions including does it mean I am out of eggs or incapable of growing eggs, will IVF even with a different protocol work for me, and will this procedure (emptying all of the follicles) affect me positively or negatively for future cycles. I would like to have a consultation with someone who has the most experience with PCOS, IVF and empty follicle syndrome. Thank you in advance.

Hello mjoypick,

It may be that the trigger shot was not appropriately dosed and that explains the empty follicle. I would be happy to review your records for you and offer a second opinion at your earliest convenience. There are certain medications that you may respond better to, and I would be happy to explain it to you.
