Hello. My husband and I have been TTC for 18 months. I was diagonosed with PCOS (confirmed via ultrasound/bloodwork)

I have been taking Metformin (1x500mg 3x a day, Clomid (used for 9 months without success), now on Letrozole and Dexamethone with scans (2nd cycle completed on these medications and still no success in getting me to ovualate.)

HSG completed in August 2013 (tubes clear)

Our physician has informed us that our next step will be injections.

Is an initial consult neccessary if we know we want to go straight to IVF? I am on day 15 of my current cycle (next progesterone shot to be given on Dec 6th with cycle starting 5 days later)

Thank you for your time

Melissa

An initial consult is a helpful first step so that we can explain why or why not going straight to IVF may be beneficial. It will also give you a chance to get to know your physician and the nurse who will be working with you. In general, the highest success rates are with IVF especially being that you have gone through multiple ovulation induction cycles with clomid and also letrozole. We can get you into an IVF treatment cycle very quickly and with your next period. It's helpful if you bring your prior records to your first appointment or send them to me beforehand for review. I look forward to meeting you!
