Hi-I want to get pregnant and was wondering if my highly irregular periods (they either happen and don't stop until i get on birth control, or don't happen at all) can stop me from conceiving. I don't want to be on birth control because I'm trying to conceive, but the only way I have regular periods is to be on it.

Your irregular cycles may be due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. The diagnosis is made by testing blood work on day 3 of your cycle, with an ultrasound of the ovaries. You can conceive with Clomid and Metformin if your fallopian tubes are open, and the sperm parameters are normal. Get in to see a specialist as soon as you can for testing.
