I had two IVF at the age of 35 that helped me conceive my beautiful son. I produced 11 eggs in both cycles. The first IVF 2 perfect 8 cell embryos where transferred on day three and I had a bichemical pregnancy. The rest of the embryos never made it to day 5. On the second IVF they transferred 3 not to bad quality embryos of 3 and 4 cells and my son was conceived. Once again the remaining embryos did not make it to day 5. I will be 39 in November and would love to give my son a bother or sister. What are the chances of conceiving naturally after IVF. With this outlook would you say that I have poor quality eggs and that even with IVF as I am know 3 years older it might be harder to achieve pregnancy.

Your chances without IVF are not better now than 4 years ago. On the other hand, I feel that with IVF, we can offer better outcomes compared to a few years ago. I would consider an evaluation of your ovarian reserve, and go from there.

Forgot to ask. Why do you think my chances are better with IVF today than 4 year ago. I am 4 years older?? Is it because there have been improvements in techniques and protocols. Do you believe that my problem according to the previous two ivf could be egg quality.

Thank you again

The test results are very good and I would consider moving forward with treatment.
Your particular chances with IVF are not better now than when you were younger. Our lab, though, has better blastocyst formation, and we have higher pregnancy rates compared to a few years ago. Due to those improvements, we transfer fewer embryos per cycle.
