I was very happy under the care of Dr. Jane Frederick. My husband and I came to HRC due to his karyotype issue, and, with Dr. Frederick’s help, were successful getting pregnant with twins. Initially, we were unfamiliar with the U.S. medical system and felt unsure about coming to the U.S. for treatment, but Dr. Frederick assured and calmed us throughout the process. We would like to thank Dr. Frederick and her entire staff who helped us throughout this process.

Right now I am five months pregnant and can’t wait to meet my babies! Everything is going great with the pregnancy, and the babies are healthy and developing.

Thank you again Dr. Frederick!

older twins 2 Maran Zyhailo JF PtD and A had two children, but they wanted three. Unfortunately, A’s uterus prevented them from attempting natural conception for their third child. Diagnosed with a heart-shaped uterus, A’s second pregnancy was traumatic, culminating in a delivery at 30 weeks and a five-week stay for their second child at NICU. For their third child, they chose to use a surrogate.

A gestational surrogate is a woman who is willing to carry a child for another couple. To use a gestational surrogate, couples synchronize the biological mother’s cycle with the surrogate's monthly cycle. Then the eggs can be retrieved from the mother, and fertilized in the lab by the doctor using the father's sperm. After the resulting embryos have had time to develop, the most viable one (or two) are implanted in the surrogate’s womb. While she is the birth mother, the gestational surrogate is not the biological mother.

A decided she would not get pregnant again herself after her second pregnancy. She described the second pregnancy as traumatic, spotting and contracting the whole time. She was afraid to move. D and she lived at her parent’s house from 16 to 30 weeks, when her daughter was born.

We suffered through it, holding on to the hope that everything would be okay,” she said of the second pregnancy.

The good news is both of their girls are perfectly healthy little girls.

However, their hopes for that third child, preferably a boy, were not yet satisfied. And neither one of them could let it go. So they chose a gestational surrogate to carry their child for them the third time around. At the time of writing, they are 34 weeks pregnant with their third child, a boy.

A described how she came to her decision.

“For me there was no way I could ever do it again (be pregnant), even if the doctors were going to let me. But I still think about it,” she admitted. “Even knowing there was no way I could ever get through a pregnancy, every once in a while I have a fleeting fantasy that I got pregnant and I was 30 weeks along and everything is fine, just so I could enjoy being pregnant again. But that’s not the reality.”

She understands that making the decision to use a surrogate is hard for some couples, particularly those who still have hope that they could get pregnant on their own or be able to carry a pregnancy.

“It might have been easier for us since we had been through two pregnancies. I could imagine how getting to this step would be a lot harder for couples that hadn’t already been pregnant themselves. Pregnancy is a special unique feeling. It’s so hard to describe what it feels like to someone who has never been pregnant. For some couples, I think they see it as giving up. This was not giving up for us. This was our miracle, so to speak,” she said.

Gestational surrogates open the door of possibilities for couples having problems getting pregnant or carrying a pregnancy to term. For couples like D and A, where natural conception was no longer an option, surrogacy opened the door to making their dream of three children a reality.

MonetMeterJF"As a third-year medical student from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, I would like to extend my gratitude to Dr. Frederick and her staff at HRC Fertility for allowing me to experience the field of Reproductive Endocrinology for the past few weeks. I owe an even bigger ‘thank you’ to the patients of HRC who have allowed me into their lives and taught me so much about caring for their growing families.

HRC Fertility has offered me an unprecedented glimpse into some of the world’s leading technology in the field—an opportunity that has vastly increased my knowledge as a supplement to my core medical school curriculum.

Dr. Frederick has devoted as much attention and concern for my education as she does for each and every one of her patients. It has truly been a privilege to work beside her, and I believe her devotion to patients and families is evidenced by her commitment to the education of future physicians.—Monet Meter, OMSIII, University of New England”

I highly recommend Dr Frederick to anyone considering fertility treatments. We tried for over a year to get pregnant thinking we were both perfectly healthy and having children would be easy. She figured out the problem and we got pregnant with twins on our first IVF cycle. The process had several up and downs and Dr Frederick was always there to hold my hand and listen to my concerns. Thanks to her we now have two beautiful little girls. Dr Frederick will always be part of our extended family !

Dr. Frederick and the staff at HRC was amazing! I had been struggling with fertility issues for years, going to different doctors and even having surgery! In my initial consultation with Dr. Frederick she was able to diagnose the problem and I was pregnant within 5 months...with twins! Dr. Frederick was so helpful, always available when I had questions or concerns and the staff was so nice. My husband and I just had the best experience at HRC and we couldn't be happier with the results... We have two beautiful babies to prove it!   Thank you,  Amanda Hall

Thank you Dr. Potter for giving us a second chance to conceive. We were about 10 years too late in having babies, but you gave us a renewed life. April and Tiffany have blessed our lives from the very day of their birth on January 29, 2003. There were times when I thought to myself "am I too old for this" but I have you to thank for giving us hope and faith in the process of parenting. Sincerely, Annetta

After two miscarriages and a history of unexplained fertility issues, my husband and I were ready to look into finding a good RE and we found one at the Fertility Info. Night with Dr. Frederick at Laguna Hills HRC (highly recommend info. night to get an idea of different prodecures/processes available and meet the doctors and staff!). Dr. Frederick and her staff were AMAZING! They were always patient with our endless questions and concerns. I could call the office, email/text my nurse or leave a message for Dr. Frederick to answer my question whatever it was. The entire staff there was so sweet and supposrtive-they really made us feel at home in the office every time we came in. After trying several different approaches that didn't work out for us, we finally felt comfortable enough to go ahead with a cycle of IVF (it was always made available as an option to us, but we never felt like it was pushed on us) and we were successful with our very first IVF cycle! I felt like the entire staff there was excited for us when we finally got that positive pregnancy result back! Great experience and we will definitely return there if we decide to add another little one to our family in the future!

Very Thankful

After 5 years of trying to conceive on our own, one surgery to remove fibroids, and a diagnosis of severe endometriosis my husband and I were hopeless. My OB told me that the only way to conceive was through IVF, which sounded were expensive and intimidating. I went to one of the free seminars and spoke to Dr. Frederick, she seemed so supportive that we decided to go ahead and do a consultation. Dr. Frederick, her staff and her nurse Janet were very helpful and compassionate, they walked us through the process and answered all our questions. Thanks to HRC fertility, after my first IVF cycle I'm 23 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. My husband and I are so thankful for the loving, caring environment of HRC, their staff and Dr. Frederick for making our dream come true.

Best Experience...Extraordinary Results

We had the best and amazing experiance with HRC and Dr. Jane Frederick - We are trying for almost 5 years to have a baby but we were unable. Frist Time we was with Loma Linda Dr. John D. Jacobson, MD and we was realy disappointed - the didn't do all the test they should do and we had an assistant instead of Dr. Jacobson - We had an insemination but no luck - stuff was cold - rooms very uncomfortable - and we had the feeling they dont realy care. Than we looked on the Internet and also saw HRC on TV ( littel couple) and we meet Dr. Frederick. Our chances of getting pregnant was 80%. My Husband sperm is to slow. After one cycle of IVF. I was pregnant. It was the best day of our lives when Dr. Frederick called and gave us the good news. The staff of HRC at laguna Hills is just wonderful. Dr. Frederick and the RN are so amazing. We say thank you for the great help - we looking forward have our baby in Jan 2013
